Tipton Jones-Boiter

This is a new piece that was created for this show. I didn't really have a plan for the composition other than I wanted a colorful, daytime landscape. Sometimes I like to let the painting develop as I paint. I also tend to lean more towards the surreal.

It's also a bit of a throwback to a coffee painting with a pinwheel I did years ago as part of my first solo show.

 

One difference between sight reading in real time and writing a more organized chart from the painting is the length of the song. I wanted to keep these under two minutes because of the nature of this exhibit.  It's such an intuitive process, while sight reading, I may stay longer on one section decoding as I go. It also means there's no playing it the same way twice.
